  • TV Packages. Need Help

I'm to switch to VMedia, but the price and options of the channels seem complex to me. I wish the options were better. I'd like the premium basic along with . . .
    slice
    hgtv
    food
    fyi
    diy
    spike
    discovery

By the time I add all of these, it's about the same price as my current cable with Rogers.

Looking at the current packages, here's what you'd need:

Premium Basic (includes discovery) - $39.95
Entertainment pack (only way to get Spike, you can thank the content providers for that one) - $5.95
Living Pack (for Slice, HGTV, Food, and FYI) - $6.95
DIY network as a standalone UChoose - $2.25

That's $55.10. If you could live without Spike, that would be a significant savings (you're essentially paying $6 for one channel, and getting a bunch of other channels you don't need).

Really, that's the best you can do these days. A la carte pricing is still in its infancy, and thus is pretty expensive (as the channel owners want to force you to subscribe to channels you don't want, it helps pay for those channels, hence bundles like the Entertainment bundle).

According to the Rogers website, you would need Digital Plus ($63.99 as of Jan 24's price increase) and $5.99 for the theme pack with Spike

So, $69.98 vs $55.10 with vmedia.
