If I upgrade to the 100 plan, can I buy the modem at Canada Computers? Do I have to pay the installation fee if I am already on cable? Isn't it just a matter of swapping out modems?

There is no installation required to upgrade to the 100mbps if you are already an existing cable customer. There will be an upgrade fee required to switch plans ($10/$20 depending on current plan).
I'm not aware of any third party retailers who offer the Cisco DPC3848 at the moment though unfortunately. If you happen to find one, you may certainly use it with our service, but I believe it is only ISP's who retail this device currently..
