  • Install Booked for New Home, But...

We're really excited to be able to "cut the cord", and move our TV and internet to VMedia. However, we have ordered and booked an install (on April 28, 29 or 30) for the house we are moving into at the end of this month, where someone else is currently renting. So technically, WE will have no service from Rogers or Bell when we move in, BUT we also have no control over when (or even IF) the current occupants of the house cancel their current Rogers service. If the Vmedia installer comes out, and it turns out the people there did not terminate their service promptly, etc., can we even proceed with the installation?

Not sure what we can do about this issue. Please advise.

Hi dabruzzer, you will receive a email confirmation from vmedia with the actual install date. This date is based on a confirmation from with rogers or bell, depending on which service you ordered, cable or dsl. It is actually a rogers or bell technician that does the install. The vbox, modem, and router if you order them will arrive by courier which will also be included in the email, and doesn't he sent out before the installation date is confirmed. As far as the renters are concerned, their service and cancellation should not have any impact on your installation. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply! I guess the only thing I am concerned about is when we filled out the online order form for the whole thing, we chose "None" when asked about current provider for TV and for Internet. Which would be true, for us. But is not correct if they are just asking if there is service on the cable lines currently, which there is. Not our service, but the current occupant's service. So our order may not trigger VMedia to arrange things as you state above. Or maybe they make those arrangements regardless. Either way, I am not sure. George, can you shed some light perhaps?

Regardless of what you put as your current service at the residence, when VMedia tries to set up an appointment for your installation Rogers will have it in their system if there is, or is not, currently service at that residence. If there is a conflict, Rogers won't just blindly send out a tech.

LOL, I wouldn't put it past robbers cable to do such a stupid thing.
