  • SB6120 vs SB6141

While both modems are DOCSIS 3.0-compatible units, the 6141 does posses the ability to bond to 8 full downstream channels. With VMedia, the 8-channel bond would not be necessary, as a 4-channel bond is more than enough to achieve the newly provisioned 30 Mbps down/ 5 Mbps up levels. Why are we being forced to upgrade to a SB6141 then?

Because Rogers is enforcing the 8x4 requirement and phasing out the 4 channel bond. Thats all there is to it they wont allow the upgrade on the 6121 anymore.

The SB6141 is a great modem, I called customer care, and they walked me through a few things I could do, but it was my router that was DOA.

Whether its Rogers restrictions or not I'm frustrated that I have to buy a new modem to get the 30/5 plan. Which really is in the capabilities of the one I just bought a year ago.

Welcome to the world of Canadian telecoms. Sadly, nothing we can do when Rogers decides this is how it has to be done.
