Yeah... Its not a nix machine. Its a tracert to a university computer engineer dept. They had wonky results as you can see. As for my knowledge base.. I know a lot, but not much in depth. I missed my calling in life haha. Decided to join the airforce and be a airplane mechanic to broaden my skills elsewhere. Thanks for not judging lol

Hey we all have to start somewhere! The fact you are asking questions to learn is awesome .

You know I was kidding around about the judging part right? lol.
Normally the hme0 from "Multiple interfaces found; using 134.117.14.35 @ hme0" is the name of a network interface on a Solaris box. Like eth0 on linux.

          Of course I know! haha

As for my research with my speed issue, it looks more and more like my Router giving me trouble. I've conducted many test with direct Ethernet thru the modem and never had a spiking lag, mini lags one in a while but totally workable and I blame that on the game servers mostly.

I guess I went as far as I can asking for help now that I narrowed it down to my router.
I would appreciate more of your help with my router issues, but I don't force anybody :P

I own a cisco Linksys EA3500 which was told to be a very good router given its price tag and reviews. so what I have checked so far is all my hardware including the modem (obviously,) the Ethernet cat6e cables and my Ethernet drivers/hardware (Mobo integrated but up to date.)

Even when I make port fowarding available both way to a game, it still have the spike lag. I start to suspect that my router can't gobble up that much traffic flow and dump its buffer when I can't keep up. no proofs yet, but working on it.

It might be worth doing a factory reset, flash the latest firmware and factory reset again then set things back up. That's where I always start if my router (Asus rt-ac66u) happens to run into some random condition I can't resolve. Would you happen to know anyone with a router you could borrow and test that to rule out hardware?

Good idea. I have a DLink I just borrowed from a co-worker to try tonight.
I also manage to contact Linksys and ruled out that it wasn't defective until they discovered that my warranty was over and wasn't entitled to get their help so they can log in my router and see what settings I screwed hahaha! At least I know its because of bad configuration.

More on that and on the Router testing in a couple of minutes.

So I think I found the issue, or at least made it dissapear.

I decided to buy a new router, a stronger one. Got the Asus RT-AC68U and also made sure to get it far from all the electronics. Did the same with the modem. So far so good! Other than VMedia having trouble fixing our neighborhood network which drops my average speed in the floor, I have absolutely no buffering lag at all, even with the 3 vboxes loaded on TV or Netflix while I play games online. What a Freaking relief I tell ya!

I was so afraid that VMedia was my issue but I'm glad it wasn't.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Go check my new issue (lol) in the VBox section. its about keyboard/mouse combo issue where my mouse gets ignored by the Vbox after a minute or so.

                Cya!
