  • VDSL Modem

Just wondering if there is any plan to come out with a Gigabit VDSL Modem/Router. I was shocked that this VDSL modem I got was only 100baseT. It would be nice to have gigabit on the LAN ports anyhow. In Bridge mode it's not really an issue based on today's standards, but it will should we pass 100Mbps

    Hi,

We have no immediate plans, although you're correct once available speeds increase this will become a necessity.

Currently, the only approved modems for FTTN 25+ speeds are the Sagemcom 2864, SmartRG SR 505N and Kasda 5262. We're hopeful our underlying provider will certify more modems moving forward though, so our customers may have more choice and flexibility when determining which modem they'd like to use with our service.

Doesn't Bell use a gigabit router for its FTTH service? Thought it was a Sagecom.

The Sagemcom 2864 is a compatible modem for VDSL plans and has gigabit LAN ports. We don't retail this modem anymore, but if you are able to find one locally (kijiji/craigslist) you can certainly use it.
