cool,, i just got mine installed saturday.. signed up 3 weeks ago,, i went dsl 50, and bell changed date to a week and a half later... (so if going with dsl, u might want to prepare for a delay from bell, not sure about rogers/cable)
    but
other than that,, (which is out of vmedia's control) i couldnt be happier,,, great price, speed, i signed up for vbox too,, and have 3 working perfectly,, seems changing channels are as fast or faster than a rogers or bell fibe box.. definitely faster than expressvu
im sure u will be as happy as i am after its all in

Great to hear. I am going with Cable 60/10 if I can get it. I have DSL15 right now so it should be a big difference for me
I will be keeping the DSL until I know they are coming on a specific date. Then I will cancel with ********. That way I get 30 days from when I cancel and I will still have DSL just in case
Planning to go with VBOX but not right away. I want to get the internet first and see that working good before I add anything else into the mix.

i also came from ********, they are a good company, no regrets, but this one offers me more what i want and at a better price.
was at rogers before that.. (i went from cable 30 (which i never got speeds above 25 on) to dsl 50 (which so far ive never got speeds above 45 on.. im thinking its my router))
the TV is great so far, like u i didnt get the vboxes till i was up and running on my internet.. then i went to canada computers and bought 3 boxes today.. up and running in minutes

word of advice.. (hope this doesnt get edited) buy vboxes from canada computers, so you get 2 months free premium basic, instead of the 1 month free you get from here (save u $39)

        also,,,
******** phone service is just as expensive as rogers and bell... ive been with vonage since 2005 cause its been SOOOO much cheaper. but vmedia seems to be cheaper than vonage now
so that will probably be my next move.. unless i cant port my number over..
seems so much better having one bill and that each service i get is cheaper than what i had previously

I have read that there are different vbox models. I hope Canada Computers has the newer models.

BladeZX, i asked the same question last week before i went and got mine:

2013 (April - November): single core box with internal WiFi antenna, Android 4.04
2013 November - 2014 February : dual core box with internal WiFi antenna, Android 4.2
2014 March - now: dual core box with external WiFi & additional video outputs (Component/Optical), Android 4.1.2

So, what some people referred was two different things:
            a. they saw they got newer box with Android 4.1 whereas before it was Android 4.2 and they thought they bought older model. They did not, there is no difference in any features or user experience between the two and they got more stable WiFi and additional outputs
            b. Canada computers had some locations where they still had 2014 Feb batch of boxes in early summer and some people actually wanted external antenna box and referred to that box as older. They no longer have those old batch boxes and this misunderstanding is resolved.

here is a pic of the latest 3rd generation vbox (March 2014).. notice the external antenna and the composite video plugs on the back:

I am supposed to get hooked up next week but I have not heard anything back on my install dates and when I sign into my account on VMedia there is a "Your attention required" on my account overview page. When I click it the "more info" link it takes me to what looks like a document upload page but I cannot do anything on it.

Did anyone else see this during their initial sign up? I don't want it to be something that is holding up the installation. I tried calling in last night to ask about it but I was on hold for over an hour and the message just kept saying the wait was stil over 10 minutes. Frustrating.

I hope the install is not on hold because of this. I have no idea what other information they would need and if they did need something I would hope that they would email me and let me know.

I have been with Vmedia for about 2 months, and just this morning I noticed I have that warning as well. Maybe a system glitch? I saw it initially because I needed to send them information for home phone porting, but that has been taken care of.

OK I am going to ignore it since I did not order the Home Phone part anyway. I only ordered internet for now

How do does the VBOX perform with Wifi? Is it still better to have it hard wired to the modem/router?

Has anyone actually had their VMEDIA internet hooked up on a Saturday or is it strictly MON-FRI?

I'd stick to hard wired, I'm using 200mbps powerline adapters for all my TVs and I have no issues. I also had my install on a Saturday, but I switched over from Rogers. I'm not sure if that makes a difference for install times.

its always better to hardwire it..
having said that... i ran 2 on wireless on hd channels at the same time just to test it out when i first got it.. and it was perfect..
the reason i dont recommend wireless is because there are too many variables.. there are others using the 2.4 ghz,, signal in your area.. this degrades your signal, and the biggest thing is distance from your wireless router.. the further it is away, the more of the total bandwidth signal of the wireless router it uses.. so if you have several devices using wireless and some are farther away, you will not get optimum bandwidth..
                            example (amount is not correct)
with wifi you can use 5 or 6 vbox's at the same time if they are within 20 feet of router... (you will max out the wifi signal.. not the modem bandwidth)
but you can only use 2 vbox's if they are both 50 feet of the router (you will max out the wifi signal.. not the modem bandwidth)

again.. i dont know the actual numbers of vbox's to max out your wifi router signal.. my point was to show you how distance affect wifi signal bandwidth

i hope i explained it right

wireless g is 54mbps connectiion (but that is in a lab, perfect conditions with device a half inch from router... if it were 100 feet away it would be more like 5mbps, and forget about a second connection cause the one 100 feet away is using all the bandwidth

physical obstructions like walls and furniture, also greatly reduce it too
