  • VMEDIA DSL INTERNET & BELL FIBE TV

    Hi,

I am currently with Bell for fibe tv, fibe internet and phone. I am wanting to change my internet to VMEDIA's 50mb service but I was wondering if it is at all possible to keep Bell Fibe TV and use VMEDIA internet?

    Thanks!

Bell requires you to have their Internet for their TV.

The reason I ask if its been done because I noticed the thread below and I was wondering if anyone has done this with VMEDIA.

Yup, when I was with Bell, I was considering switching over to VMedia just for internet. But they told me I could not have Fibe TV without Fibe Internet. The link to DSLReports that you attached doesn't seem to be correct - don't try attaching it (that functionality seems to be broken), just cut and paste the link into your post itself.

The same goes for Bell that goes for VMedia, by CRTC regulations it has to be a closed network so to get Bell Fibe they would have to deliver over a Bell package if I'm not mistaken.

That link doesn't go to a thread. VMedia doesn't like linking to external sites anyway.
I came here from Bell, and in my experience you must have Fibe Internet to get fibe TV. You also cannot signup without it, and cannot remove the Internet portion.
Will they allow it if you transfer to vmedia with Bell provided DSL? I'm not so sure, but yea as leshka said, you would need to call them. I suspect they will say no.

A bit of googling states that Bell can provide a "zero-rated" service for fibe tv, meaning that they will provide Internet ONLY for the TV.
This means you still have a DSL modem, using your Phone line pair that cannot be used for another provider's DSL.

If this is in fact true, you *could* get the zero-rated Internet service + Fibe TV from bell, and get either a second phone line (probably a dry loop) for DSL from vmedia or get cable internet service.
I have never heard of anyone doing this, or have not confirmed if it is true. caveat emptor.
You would essentially have 2 internet feeds, but one dedicated to FibeTV only.

I currently have Bell FIBE TV with ******** cable internet, switching TV and Internet to VMedia in a few weeks. You do not need to pay for Bell internet if you have their FIBE TV service, they will install an internet connection for their IPTV and will set your internet to $0 so long as you don't use it.

I have fibre coming right into my living room for Bell FIBE TV, I just hope VMedia's IPTV service works well over cable internet.
