  • Switching from Rogers Cable TV to Vmedia IPTV

    Hi forum users,

I am willing to finally cancel my Rogers Cable TV subscription and move to Vmedia IPTV...

I already have my internet plan (cable) with Vmedia, and it works decently well... (I switched from Rogers cable internet about a year ago)... and it only required changing the cable modem... as seems that the same cable wiring is used...

The main question I always ask myself is : if I now call Rogers and cancel my Cable TV...would they basically send somebody to actually cut/disconnect the cable?
If they do that, I assume my internet connection (currently with Vmedia as I mentioned) would also go down... I assume that I will have a nightmare in my hands, that would require painful calls to Vmedia's customer support, etc...and this is something I want to avoid at all cost.

So... does Rogers actually disconnect the cable ? How big is the risk of being subjected to this kind of issue ?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

    Gus

There is always a risk that they can mess it up. Technically it should not affect it. All they do it put a filter. Only if this filter is bad or they do something else why they are there

I used to work for cogeco (not quite the same as rogers but similar setup) although, it is true that I wouldnt get paid to not disconnect you, I would normally just be sent out to put a filter on the line to stop you from getting any tv signal. Since you already cancel your cable through them, they would only come in to install the filter to stop you from receiving TV signal through your line. The line should already have been tagged to indicate 3rd party internet.
